About Dale Benton

Dale Benton is the founder and owner of Benton Automotive Group with five stores and over 250 employees in Alabama and Tennessee.

Born in the suburbs of Atlanta he began his career in the automotive industry in 1992 after playing college baseball on scholarship and pursuing a lifetime dream of playing baseball as a career. This dream was cut short after an injury and he soon took on a new dream of owning his own car dealership one day. He married his college sweetheart and they pursued this dream together. As he worked his way up in the business, he advanced from sales to management and eventually was running the store. Then in November 2010, he took advantage of an opportunity, took a leap of faith, and invested their life savings to realize the dream of ownership with his first store, Benton Nissan, in Oxford, Alabama.

Since that time he has grown and established himself as “Your friend in the car business” and Benton Automotive Group as a choice among customers. He understands the “importance of community and giving back what God has so richly blessed us with.” His contributions to charitable organizations have been a practice and standard from the origins of Benton Automotive Group. It is evident from the mission statement hung in all the stores which states, “Our mission is to sell quality vehicles and products with unwavering commitment to our customers. We believe that God owns this business and we are simply His stewards of it for a season. We want to make sure that all we do in and through the business honors Him. By the same token, we do not want to do anything that will dishonor Him. We contribute our customer service and overall satisfaction to our qualified and trained technicians and staff. We not only want our customers to feel at home, but we want our team to feel they are making a difference. Whether it be at our store or in the community on a philanthropic level, we are your Friends in the car business.” Character and integrity comes before anything else is the “Benton Way” and the way he strives to do business. “It’s about building relationships because this is a people business.”

Dale is active in Church of the Highlands, Golden Springs Baptist Church, United Way, and a Rotarian. He sits on the Board of the Donoho School and is involved in many civic and charitable organizations. He and his wife have one son and live in central Alabama.
